I’ve been fortunate to document various weddings around the world, from small villages in the middle of nowhere to big megapolis around the globe. When it comes to photographing city weddings - London is no doubt on top of my list of places for that, this was simply no exception. I’ve met with Haya & Rhys less than a year before their big day, and from the very first moments we hit it off. I already felt that they are my type of client - people who want to remember their wedding with the closest family and friends, great food and music, and, of course, a fantastic documentary wedding photographs, that highlights all the fun and emotions of their wedding day. They wanted a small and intimate city wedding ceremony followed by more friends later in the evening at St Bart’s Brewery in Islington.
We started our wedding morning together with Haya and her family and friends getting ready at the salon in Mayfair and later moved to their flat to continue preparation. After that, we took a London Black Cab to Marleybone town hall where Rhys was waiting for his wife to be. It was a short but very intimate and friendly ceremony. After it, we took a little detour to the one the city’s park for some couple portraits and made our way to Islington for more pictures and, of course, the party - where more guests and family was waiting.
What was terrific about the rest of the evening is how relaxed and comfortable going everything was. Superb food and atmosphere at St Bart’s Brewery was only a small indication of it. The energy, music and all the crazy dancing - was simply a cherry on the cake. The DJ was having everybody on the dance floor from the very beginning of the party and haven’t stopped until very late. Even I had to put my cameras at the end on join the couple for a few old school drum & bass hits :)
